Habit Nova started with a simple problem: every habit app failed at the same point. It took a founder with ADHD to figure out why — and to build something that actually fixes it.

Why I built Habit Nova

I have ADHD. I've started more projects than I can count. Some I finished with hyperfocus. Most I abandoned the moment the excitement wore off.

After reading Atomic Habits, I had a simple idea: make habits physical. I started cutting cards out of a deck of playing cards and drawing habit icons on them. Every day, I'd flip over the ones I completed. It worked — but there was no data, no streaks, no system.

Then I realized the real problem. Every habit app I'd tried failed at the same moment: the gap between doing the habit and opening the app to log it. That gap sounds small. For my brain, it was where every streak died.

So I tried NFC tags. A physical tag on my gym bag. Tap it when I arrive — habit logged before I've put the bag down. No app to open. No decision to make. The friction just disappeared.

Now I track water with a tag on my bottle, workouts with a tag that launches my playlist, and reading with a tag on my Kindle that auto-starts a meditation timer after. That system became Habit Nova.
