Accessibility

Habit Nova is built for everyone. Here's how we make habit tracking inclusive, usable, and accessible to people of all abilities.

Last updated: April 2026

Screen Reader Ready

Full ARIA support, live announcements, and text alternatives for all visual content.

Keyboard Accessible

Every feature is reachable via keyboard. Focus traps keep you oriented in dialogs.

NFC for Everyone

Tap a physical tag to log habits — no screen navigation needed. Accessible by design.

1. Our Commitment

Habit Nova is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to make our habit tracking platform inclusive and usable by all.

2. Conformance Standards

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide array of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

3. Assistive Technology Support

Habit Nova is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

NVDA and JAWS screen readers on Windows
VoiceOver on macOS and iOS
TalkBack on Android
Keyboard-only navigation
Browser zoom up to 200%
High-contrast and dark mode display preferences
Reduced motion preferences (prefers-reduced-motion)

4. Accessibility Features

We have implemented the following accessibility features throughout the application:

Skip-to-content link for keyboard and screen reader users
Semantic HTML landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) on every page
ARIA labels on all interactive elements and icon-only buttons
Focus trapping in modals, dialogs, and slide-over panels
Live region announcements for toasts, notifications, and AI Coach messages
Text alternatives for charts, heatmaps, and data visualizations
Keyboard-accessible calendar with labeled day cells
Progress bar semantics with current values announced to screen readers
Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements
Light and dark themes with consistent contrast ratios
Reduced motion support via the prefers-reduced-motion media query

5. How People with Disabilities Benefit

Habit Nova's combination of NFC-powered logging, AI coaching, and structured routines makes it uniquely suited for people with a range of disabilities:

Visual Impairments

Screen reader support lets blind and low-vision users track habits, hear progress stats read aloud, and interact with the AI Coach. NFC tags are tactile — users place them in physical locations and tap without seeing a screen, making habit logging completely frictionless.

Motor Disabilities

NFC tap-to-log eliminates the need for precise touch interactions. Users tap a physical tag instead of navigating complex UIs. One-tap logging is inherently more accessible than multi-step form input. Full keyboard navigation is supported throughout the application.

Cognitive Disabilities

The AI Coach provides personalized guidance, breaking complex habit-building into simple steps. Habit templates remove decision paralysis. Streak gamification provides clear, simple motivation. Structured routines reduce cognitive load.

ADHD & Executive Function

Push notifications and reminders help users remember habits. The Pomodoro timer and structured daily routines reduce the mental effort of staying on track. Quick Launch provides instant access to frequently used features.

Anxiety & Depression

The journaling widget with guided prompts provides a safe space for reflection. Motivational quotes offer daily encouragement. Community features and accountability partners provide gentle social structure and support.

6. Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, we are aware of the following areas where improvements are ongoing:

Some third-party embedded content (Shopify checkout) may have limited accessibility
Complex drag-and-drop dashboard reordering relies on library-level keyboard support
Color-coded heatmap cells use color as a visual indicator alongside text alternatives

We actively work to address these and welcome feedback on any barriers you encounter.

7. Feedback & Contact

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of Habit Nova. If you encounter any accessibility barriers or have suggestions for improvement, please reach out:
